Without a doubt, one of the friendliest, fun-loving crowds can be found line dancing the night away at Cowboys on Saturday nights. Each week of the month is a different theme, with two crowd pleasing events for the ladies and two for the guys. Amelia and I weren't lucky enough to be there for the Boots 'n Bachelor contest (we made it for Miss Rocky Mountain), but it was a blast all the same.
The parking lot at Cowboy's, in case you've never been, is enough to send a city girl high tailing it back to the Big Apple. Pick up trucks with wheels and rims bigger then my entire car, authentic cowboy hats in the window, and tricked out motorcyles- confusing, to say the least- packed the lot before our 10pm arrival. It's definitely different from any downtown bar you've ever seen. Nevertheless, I braved my way through the country crowds with Amelia and Dewberry to see what goes down on Saturday nights.
Once inside, if you have to wait more than two minutes to get a drink, you were definitely already cut off by the bartenders, my drunken stumbling friend. There are at least five bars, both inside and out of the place, and plenty of pool tables, swings (of the non-Makos variety), and drink specials for those of us not skilled at country western dancing.
I love flashing as much as the next girl (who keeps her Shock Squad shirt on, that is), but Cowboy's definitely had the most willing participants. Whether we were taking pictures or asking about tricked out trucks (which appear on the new www.Enginehead.com site), everyone was more than willing to help out. If you're ever in need of a change from the standard routine, I suggest checking out Cowboy's for some old fashioned country hospitality. Just try to go early or avoid the dance floor if you're not familiar with the choreography... we learned the hard way. See you this weekend for some Salsa dancing at Club Mambo. XOXO- Dina
